Well some time ago I started playing the MMO Wld of War Craft (WOW), or WOW Crack to some. I was coming of a major let down called Star Wars Galaxies (SWG), because they had implemented the game killing update called Combat Upgrade, any way I digress. So I purchased WOW now as any good MMO player will tell you when selecting your toon one of two things happen.
1. You will select a toon that reflects how you perceive your self.
2. If you’re male you will select a female toon as to solicit in game currency from the pre-pubescent players. You know who you are don’t deny it.
So anyway where was I, oh yes selecting a toon and a class. No class is not what you enroll in at college, class is what classification your toon will be, such as a warrior, mage, priest, warlock so on and so forth. This brings me to the Mighty Riverter. Now I’m a southern born and bread guy and I’m proud of my southern heritage, no that does not mean that my mom and dad are cousins and that I eat possum, and no just because we enjoy the slow life does not mean we are slow, I can’t help that reporters all ways select the village idiot to interview. Anyway I’m getting sidetracked again, upon reading and understanding how Blizzard had set up their races and classes I settled on making a Dwarf Palladian. Now you are asking your self why a dwarf pally? Well simply put the dwarf racial passive abilities reflected to me the epitome of being a redneck. They love to drink and they have stone form, and everyone knows that if you give a redneck enough to drink they become supermen. Now no other class to me looked like it could just stomp a mud hole and walk it dry better, I was sadly mistaken but hey I was mislead. Now what I’m talking about here my hopefully faith full readers is the pre-BC, pre-WOTLK expansions, I’m talking about the good old “Vanilla WOW”. Pally’s where reduced to one role and one role only, buff bot’s and healing, that’s right we had to put on our knee pads and get all the other classes ready to fight then heal them while they did it. If you even suggested that you could dps or tank with a Pally you would, and I’m not joking here, litterly be made to feel like you had some kind of mental deficiency. However latter on in the BC expansion they did a re-work of the Pally class and it open us up to be the best tank in the game. Why, well simply put Blizzard felt that AOE tanking was the way to go, and no one can out AOE tank a Pally. Not only that they made a a viable DPS class as well, there where reports of people getting 1-2 shot-ed by them. These where the pally’s that never accepted that they couldn’t DPS and actually tried to get gear to allow them this ability. That gear was very rare and had a drop rate of 0.0001% yet, if you know anything about the individuals that played pally’s back then you would know that they are tenacious. Now as for me, well I had accepted the role that Blizzard had thrust us into for so long. I was a healing, buffing machine I was a damn good one too. I was able to even solo heal the first boss fight in Kara, Attuneman, and this was before the big NPC, Dungeon nurf pre-WOLTK. I was very proud of my little pally and what I had accomplished in him. Then they patched and all of a sudden I was sadden, because as I had worked long and hard to perfect the healing aspect of a pally, I had allways wanted to DPS with him, now I could but didn’t have the gear. I walked away from the mighty Riverter, I switched to my hunter, who I could DPS with and I did it with great joy. However I was still a Redneck Pally at heart.
So I have told this story, to bring us to this point which is that I have officially dusted off the Mighty Riverter and I have set upon a campaign to level him now and I will try and blog and bring forth my knowledge as I gain it and share with the Pally world.
AWESOME the red neck pally has returned!!!!!!!!!!! have some beer kick some ass and be sure to let us know what going on.
Sweet, you won’t be disappointed, Riv. I love my pally, despite you well-known despising of the very notion of a Horde pally
